Finding Your Comfort Zone

Finding your Comfort Zone ☺️

Do you ever feel uncomfortable, guilty, or shameful when you eat too much or unsatisfied and still hungry when you may eat too little? Rather, then feeling negatively, look at this as an opportunity to find your happy place.  It's like when Goldilocks eats the porridge in Goldilocks and the Three Bears: She tries out each bowl and says, "This is too much, this is too little, this is just right!"

The hunger scale is a way to listen to your body and help you gauge how hungry you are.  On the scale of 1 to 10, 1 is you are ravenous and have not eaten on time; and 10 you are overly stuffed, like after a Thanksgiving meal.  Your happy place is between 3 and 7, where you are lightly hungry and just satisfied or almost full.

Use the hunger scale to help find the right portions for you.  Eating when you are lightly hungry (3-4) helps you eat just the right amounts (6-7) and not go overboard (10).  It can also help you discern between emotional or physical hunger and fullness.

Note, for those of you who need to gain weight, you may need to push your limit and eating can become uncomfortable.  But in time and when you reach an appropriate biological body weight, you will find your happy place too.
